ORGANISATIONAL DESIGN
An organisations success depends on the performance of their people.
Organisational design is a planned, systematic approach to improving organisational effectiveness - one that aligns strategy, people and process. To achieve the desired goals of high performance and competitive advantage.
Having people in the correct Job Family or Group with the required skills and competences, focusing on the organisation’s strategy and the key things that matter, will allow for business success.
People are often promoted because they are good in their current role. However, have they been set up for success?
Do they have the critical competencies required for the role to be successful – or just the nice to have? Has the organisation been able to offer targeted professional development for the critical competencies, so that a lasting difference is achieved?
One of the principles of adult learning is self-motivation. By having clarity in a Job Family or Group and providing a competency framework for their role, people have the opportunity to become motivated to undertake a targeted approach to their development so they can be successful in their new role.
While maximising development opportunities and performance for the person. It also allows for effective usage of the organisations training and development budget. As only competencies within the specific Job Family or Group and role are developed.
In addition, understanding the organisation’s Job Families or Groups and their critical roles within each family provides for a clear line of sight to what competencies are required within the context of:
